What is the manufacturer defect warranty on your products?Updated 3 hours ago

We stand behind the quality of our products and want you to feel confident in your purchase. Our manufacturer defect warranty covers issues with materials or workmanship that were present when the product was manufactured or delivered.

Warranty Coverage

  • Apparel / Gear / Accessories: 6 months from purchase
  • Footwear: 12 months from purchase

All warranty claims are reviewed case by case. Clear photos are required for all warranty claims, and additional information may be requested during the review.

What Is Covered

Our warranty is intended for genuine manufacturing defects. Issues caused by normal use, outside factors, improper care, or use outside the product’s intended purpose are generally not covered.

Velcro & Tactical Gear

Velcro and hook-and-loop materials can be extremely abrasive and may catch, pull, or damage fabric fibers. This is especially common with plate carriers, duty belts, tactical vests, pouches, packs, and similar equipment.

Damage caused by Velcro or other tactical equipment is not considered a manufacturing defect.

To help prevent damage, keep exposed Velcro secured when possible and avoid dragging it across apparel. Regularly check your equipment for worn or exposed hook-and-loop material.

Heat Exposure

Our products are not designed for direct contact with extreme heat.

Burns, melting, scorching, or other heat damage caused by suppressors, firearms, muzzle devices, hot brass, or other heat sources are not considered manufacturing defects.

Drying

We recommend air drying our products whenever possible. High heat from dryers can cause shrinkage, fading, loss of shape, and damage to fabrics, elastic, and technical materials.

Damage caused by excessive heat or improper drying is not covered under warranty.

FR / nIR-Rated Products

Born Primitive does not currently offer FR / nIR-rated (flame-resistant) products.

Our team is working toward future products for customers who require flame-resistant protection. Unless a product is specifically identified as FR / nIR-rated, it should not be considered protective against flame, flash fire, or extreme heat.

Patriot 1

The Patriot 1 is designed for active, on-patrol use and can handle normal exposure to wet conditions.

It should still be cared for properly:

  • Do not intentionally soak or submerge.
  • Do not machine wash.
  • Avoid prolonged water exposure.
  • Air dry naturally.
  • Do not use direct heat to dry.

Damage caused by improper care, prolonged exposure, external equipment, or use outside the intended purpose is not considered a manufacturing defect.

Intended Use

Our products are designed for specific types of use. Using a product outside of its intended purpose may result in damage that is not covered under warranty.

For example, products designed for casual or rest-day wear are not intended for high-intensity training, running, or demanding occupational use unless otherwise stated on the product page.

Please review the individual product page for product-specific intended use and care instructions.

Footwear Care

Unless otherwise stated on the product page:

  • Do not machine wash.
  • Do not soak or submerge.
  • Do not saturate brushed leather or brushed suede.
  • Air dry naturally.
  • Avoid direct heat.

For brushed leather and brushed suede, do not use cleaning wipes, soaps, leather cleaners, or other products unless specifically formulated for that material.

Warranty Review

When reviewing a claim, our team may consider the product's age, how it was used, how it was cared for, and the nature of the issue.

Normal wear, accidental damage, improper care, alterations, animal damage, and damage from external equipment or environmental conditions are not considered manufacturing defects.

Warranty Resolution

If a claim is determined to qualify under our warranty, the appropriate resolution will be determined on a case-by-case basis based on the product and circumstances.

Warranty approval does not guarantee a specific resolution.

How to Submit a Warranty Claim

Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims. Please email [email protected] and include the following information:

  • Proof of purchase/receipt
  • Item name
  • Size and color
  • Clear photos of the issue — required for all claims
  • Photo of the lot number
    • This is located on product hang tags, product box labels, and under the tongue of shoes
  • Place of purchase

We must be able to verify your purchase before reviewing a warranty claim. Providing all of the requested information and photos will help our team review your claim as efficiently as possible.
